New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday claimed that many workers and supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also participated in the rally called by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the ordinance related to control of services in the national capital. In the scorching heat, thousands of people had reached the grand rally against the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance 2023 at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Sunday.
Kejriwal has tweeted that many BJP people also came to the rally at Ram Leela Maidan on Sunday against the ordinance. BJP people are also saying that the central government did not do the right thing by bringing this ordinance. The Center had on May 19 promulgated an ordinance to set up an authority on transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi, which the AAP-led government termed as a travesty of the court verdict on deregulation of services.
Prior to the apex court's May 11 verdict, transfer and posting matters of all officers in the Delhi government were under the executive control of the Lieutenant Governor. After the ordinance, Kejriwal is trying to garner support against the ordinance by reaching out to leaders of non-BJP parties so that the Centre's bill in this regard fails in Parliament.
